Children, as well as adults, have human rights. As well as the human rights laid down in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, children and young people have the right to additional rights to recognize that young people have special needs to help them live and thrive to their fullest. Children are entitled to special protection because of their vulnerability to exploitation and abuse. Specific rights of children are enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is an international human rights treaty that outlines the specific rights that children and young people can exercise.

How is my child helping with by teaching their right?

As a parent, you are the best at getting to know your children and the person makes sure they have everything already necessary to succeed. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is a global agreement signed by Canada and most countries. It is expressive that every person under the age of 18 years needs to thrive and survive a healthy living. In Canada every child and youth who is under 18 years of age, including youth immigrants, have the right to be protected under the UNCRC.

Teaching children about their rights (and responsibilities) are increased self-esteem of a child, level of interaction with home and school, and increasing respect for others. When children understand their rights, they are more likely to avoid being offended (bullied) and also likely to stand up for others. It makes them be good citizens of the world. The rights of children and youth are there to encourage all those adults to listen to the opinion of the children and they rush into making a decision with the hope that the children will learn how to make responsible decisions. You are the well knows how big responsibility is what children can handle. It is up to you to help them know their potential.
