No one can beat the Christmas of the Biguenos.

Many of us have been cooped up in our houses for so long, and the lack of outdoor activities has left us wondering how we would be able to celebrate Christmas as we once did. After all, we Filipinos have the world's longest Christmas season, which runs from September until January's Three Kings festivity. As you might think, there are several Christmas activities that you and your family can participate in, both at home and outside. Wear your mask, put on your face shield, wash your hands frequently, spritz your hands with 70% alcohol, and exercise physical separation if you're going outside.

They say, there’s nothing quite like celebrating Christmas in Vigan. From fun parties and delicious food to unique traditions and family reunions, the beauty and fun of Filipino Christmas is truly unbeatable.

In fact, many foreigners choose to celebrate Christmas in the Philippines/Vigan because it is said that Filipino Christmas is very different and more sincere.

We celebrated Christmas Like other Catholic countries, Filipinos are accustomed to going to church the night before Christmas. It starts on December 16 to 24. In the Philippines, church night is held twice a day: at dawn and at night. But more often at dawn, as early as 4am, Filipinos go to church. Of course, church night is not complete without bibingka, puto bumbong and hot tea for breakfast.

No matter what the meaning of Christmas is, one thing that everyone agrees on is that it is a time of compromise. Proof of that is the tradition that the Filipinos have become accustomed to. Every Christmas, friends and relatives give gifts and money. But it is also customary in the Philippines to celebrate Christmas even with strangers. Some give away free food, candy, gifts, and money. Filipinos are naturally generous so even if you are not a godfather or godmother, they are ready to give you a gift.

One of the reasons why Christmas is more meaningful and fun in the Vigan is because it is the time when the whole family is complete, especially those with relatives who work abroad. OFWs return to the Philippines while some who work in the city return to their provinces to be with their loved ones on Christmas day. Christmas day is one of the most awaited by Filipinos because it is where families are formed.

It is truly fun to celebrate Christmas in the Vigan not only because of the happy traditions and gifts received. We must remember that Christmas is not just about material things but it is a celebration of the birth of Jesus.
